My uncle Doug died in 1997 from AIDS. His death led directly to my birth.
In that way, I sort of owe everything to him. This is the story of the uncle who I have never met but whose ripples of legacy live on in every breath I take.
Part thank-you note and part memorial, Doug + Me is a short animated documentary film centered around a filmmaker’s search to get to know an uncle
as he was; a look into a life and a reflection on the emotional impact of the AIDS crisis and on the enduring legacies we all leave behind.
